Sections

What are sections, and how can I use them in my writing?

Updated over 6 months ago

What do you do if the AI keeps flagging up prose for violent content when all that's happened is your character has a nosebleed? Or you want to add notes to yourself for future iterations of a chapter? Or you just want to brainstorm in the write interface without having to keep a snippet pinned to the side.

This is where the sections feature shines.

Where can I find sections?

In the write interface. To access them, type '/' and select section.

There is no shortcut for making a section.

Anatomy of the sections

  1. Minimise or maximise the section text

  2. The title of your section

  3. Toggle whether AI will include your section when reading words before.

  4. The actions menu, allowing you to:

    1. See the word count

    2. Change the colour of the Section

    3. Copy your snippet text

    4. Dissolve the section (putting the contenting in the main body of the text) or delete it (removing the text entirely)

  5. Click and hold here to drag your section throughout the scene.

  6. The content you want to put in the snippet.

What is the benefit of not including sections in AI context?

There are many reasons that you might not want the section to be included in the AI context:

  1. You are writing NSFW content - if you find the AI is refusing to write or summarise content due to the input, you can section off the triggering content in order to keep writing.

  2. You want to add notes for your future self regarding edits, new plot points, and the like.

What other uses are there for sections?

  1. Kitbashing - keep each version of your beat prose in a separate section and take the best from each.

  2. Traffic Light Rankings - test out different models and use the recolouring option (in the actions menu) to rate the output of the different models.
